Denise Leigh - Soprano

Denise, monochrome image Denise Leigh is the winner of channel 4's Operatunity: a nationwide search to find an amateur singer who could be trained intensively, terrified, have cameras stuck in their face, and survive long enough to sing the role of Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto at the home of ENO, the London Coliseum.

Since her operatic debut in 2003 Denise has gone on to sing all over the world, appearing in opera and oratorio throughout Europe, and visiting Dubai with her husband/accompanist Stefan Andrusyschyn, to raise money for Foresight, a charity funding ground breaking rsearch into sight loss. She has recorded two best selling albums on the EMI Classics label, and continues to appear regularly on TV and radio as a studio guest and general full time chatter.

She will be returning to Southern Ireland later this year to sing the title role in Handel's Theodora, as part of the Aisling Alainn Festival in Dublin, and makes a return visit in 2009 to the Hereford leg of the Three Choirs Festival, singing newly commissioned works.

Denise is managed and represented by James Black Management.
